Now that I have gone through surgeries on my knees, the pain I had been experiencing has diminished, but it is definitely not gone. They still ache and pop. There are things like Biofreeze and the knockoff that I buy called, "Freeze-It," which work well enough that help out a bit. I take Salsalate, which is an NSAID.

What I am curious about is whether or not there are other, more natural things that I can use to help with achy knee joints, or with hip and ankle pain. I have osteoarthritis in my knees, hips and ankles. Does anyone use anything that they can suggest?

Thanks!

Tom.

Hi Tom, I have something you might try.  It's not a homeopathic tx., and you will have to get it from your doctor....but you won't have to take more NSAIDS.  With my Crohn's and ulcers they aren't a good thing for me either.  My doc gave me a new patch they have out called FLECTOR PATCH.  They are a good sized patch that you put on your knees, ankles, etc.  Instead of having to take it orally, it delivers the anti-inflammatory meds directly to the pain site so it's safer.  For ankles you might even be able to get four patches out of one to save on cost.  Ask your doc for samples to get you started if you want to try them.  Hope this helps.   Terry

Thanks Pebbles!

I am seeing Dr. Salter at the VA Clinic here in the Springs on the 3rd; maybe he has access to them. If they are too new he may not. The VA just *loves* generic everything. At this point I am ready to try them, if he prescribes them for me. Hopefully they are available, and the pharmacy upstairs has them. If not I will have to wait for the Denver VA Hospital to ship them to me.

Your suggestion is *very* much appreciated.

Tom.

I take Vicodin 7.5/750 4 times a day and Neurontin 1200 mg 3 times a day to keep my pain in check
